Richard Sanderson 生於英國. 他的父親是蘇格蘭人, 母親是法國人. 因為他的父母也是愛音樂的人, 所以Richard小時候已經受到他們的影響, 最後成為一個音樂家.

Richard五歲時開始彈鋼琴. 十五歲學習結他, 兩年後加入了一隊搖滾樂隊, 做樂器手. 三年後, 成為了Nancy Hollaway 和David Christie的正式鋼琴家.
他21歲時, 已經擁有自己的樂隊, 周圍在世界各地的名酒店演奏. 之後他去了美國, 在不同的樂隊演奏的同時, 他在the Berkley college of music讀 Harmony 和 管弦樂編制法.


25歲時, 他返回了英國. 受雇於出名的Trident recording studio. 他認識了出名的電影作曲家 Vladimir Cosma. 被 Cosma選了去演奏’La Boum’的主題曲—‘Reality’. ‘Reality’更成為了15個國家的Number 1, 全歐洲及亞洲總共賣出八百萬隻.

35歲時, 他開始為電影配樂, 更成為Daniel Costelle的專用作曲家. ‘Visiting the testament’ 是他最新的作品.
